Imagine a tongue where the upper surface of the tongue turns black or brown in color and in some cases the papillae elongate (get longer). Doctors consider this to be an unsightly condition but not harmful. They call it black tongue. It can be extremely distressing and put a severe cramp on your social life. Many people with tongue problems become so self-conscious that they dont want to open their mouths in public and often begin restricting their social activities.Another potential tongue problem is hairy tongue. This involves a lengthening of the tongue papillae, causing the tongue to appear hairy or furry. Again, this is not considered to be a harmful disorder, but does of course cause worry.If...

I can feel it. The googlebot is coming to get me. You might say I am insane, but I know for certain that Google is a strange company and that the founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, definitely have a master plan for the whole world.Sure, you might say, "They are just a couple of innocuous geeks." But you probably haven't read as deeply into them or their company as much as I have. I can't go into too many specific details here because Page & Brin's googlebot records everything on the World Wide Web. All I can say for now is that there is more to that gaping white space on Page & Brin's famous homepage, then almost anyone realizes.Google prides itself on minimalism and speed. The perfect...

Disability: Human Rights and Social...
Over two thirds of them live in developing countries. Only 2 per cent of disabled children in the developing world receive any education or rehabilitation. The link between disability and poverty and social exclusion is direct and strong throughout the world. India is not far behind as the statistics shows it has over 90 million disabled persons, barely one percent of whom are employed. The disability rights debate is not so much about the enjoyment of specific rights as it is about ensuring the equal effective enjoyment of all human rights, without discrimination, by people with disabilities. The non-discrimination principle helps make human rights in general relevant in the specific context of...
Irritable Bowel Syndrome May Be Due To Missed...
Irritable bowel syndrome is the most common gastrointestinal diagnosis yet it is not really a disease nor does it have confirmatory diagnostic tests. Rather, it is diagnosed based on a constellation of symptoms and the absence of other diagnoses. Common symptoms attributed to IBS are abdominal pain, cramping, diarrhea, bloating and excess gas. Celiac disease or gluten sensitivity is a common but frequently missed gastrointestinal diagnosis. Ingestion of gluten containing foods in affected individuals commonly causes symptoms attributed to IBS that are relieved with gluten-free diet in at least 10-20% of people misdiagnosed with IBS. Other food intolerances are also a likely a cause of IBS symptoms...

Stealth Surgery - Cosmetic Surgery Without...
Today's cosmetic surgery seeks more than a good result. It also seeks to produce the result without leaving telltale tracts behind. This article will describe some of the ways I and other modern plastic surgeons accomplish that dual goal. I will discuss both facial and body contour procedures. The most significant innovation in facial rejuvenation in the past several years has been the adaptation of endoscopic techniques. An endoscope is a surgical tool that incorporates a miniature video camera. It provides surgeons access to deeper layers with visualization of essential anatomy through minimal incisions. For example, the old forehead lift operation required a long incision across the top of...

Bioflow Ecoflow Magnetic therapy
Magnetic therapy has been used in many parts of the world for many years to help relieve pain and accelerate the natural healing process of the body. For more than 5000 years the healing power of Lodestone (magnet) has been known and used for healing, which has been mentioned in the earliest of writings. It is a naturally occurring rock used for many years by different cultures for promoting health. It was even thought that Cleopatra used a magnetic substance to help preserve her beauty. The oldest known use of magnets to promote health can be traced back to Africa where a magnetite mine 100,000 years old was found. The magnetite was used in potions, foods and topical applications. Natural magnets...
Why do we age? Currently, there are seven theories on the aging process. Actually, we do not have a good scientific explanation for aging. We just know that our bodies were designed to grow old. There are seven major theories about why we age. All of them have some credibility. The first is that our genes program ourselves to divide a certain number of times and once this division has reached the maximum number our bodies will begin to fail. This is the Telomar Theory. These are genetic elements that are controlling the number of allowable cell divisions. The second is the general degradation of the neuroendocrine system. The neurological and hormonal systems that regulate the body finally wear out...

Google Adsense
How many times have you seen ads for Google AdSense? More than you can remember I'm sure. AdSense is an easy way to generate some income BUT if you are new to AdSense, make sure that you read the "Policy" section completely. Many who first find out about this "easy way to make money" are so anxious that they overlook some of the rules that Google strictly adhears to. As a matter of fact, I would suggest that you read through everything a few times. Google is very protective of their paying advertisers and rightfully so. Picture yourself spending $500 or more a month on your business. You would expect that every click on your ad is by someone who is actually interested. Adsense provides you...
Medicare Reimbursement for Power Wheelchairs...
Power mobility equipment offers a "new lease on life" to many persons with limited mobility. Medicare reimburses power mobility equipment up to 80% of the Medicare allowable amount if the person qualifies for this benefit and the health care professional certifies that the wheelchair or scooter is medically necessary.Covering all of the Medicare regulations for power mobility equipment could take up volumes. Only mimimal information is included here. Some of this information I learned in training for my position as mobility specialist; other information I have gathered in the past couple of years selling mobility equipment.Current Medicare guidelines for power wheelchairs require that:1. The...
Child Support OverviewIn 1999, over $14 billion was owed to California's children. 35% of single parent families had income below the poverty line. An adult child who is disabled and unable to earn a living has an ongoing right to support. How much child support should I pay or receive?In...

Income Protection
A number of recent studies have shown that disability is an issue that everyone should be concerned with, even people who are young. Statistics show that you have a much greater chance of becoming disabled while you are working compared to dying before the age of 65. Even if you are making a high income, everything can change over night if you are injured. Becoming disabled is one of the leading causes of bankruptcies and foreclosures. To avoid this, it is important to make sure your income is protected. When you talk to most people in the financial industry, they are quick to tell you about the importance of asset protection. They will scare you with the horror stories of people being sued while...

Are you wondering about the term "disability" and how it is really defined? Each of us may have an individual concept of disability and who are those that can be considered disabled and those who cannot be noted as one. However, if you and all the others think that your idea of the definition of disability is the same as that of the Social Security Administration's then you might have to reassess your thoughts. The Social Security Administration or SSA is the implementing agency of the Social Security Act. One of its essential tasks is setting official definitions and determination of disability. In order to present a general context on the definition of disability, throwing significant light on a...
The Myths Surrounding Social Security and...
The confusion and lack of information regarding application for successful approval for disability benefits has spawned lots of misconceptions about the whole disability benefits process. That is why most of the people hesitate to even file a claim even if they are qualified. For those claimants who have diminished trust with the system, this article may be worth reading. Many are led to believe that the SSA automatically denies all applications the first time. To answer that myth, there is no regulation or policy that controls the SSA disability system in such a way that all initial applications get automatically denied. It is a fact that 60 to 70 percent of these applications get denied, but only...
Payroll Record Retention Requirements
Every business must retain certain records on their current and past employees, but which ones and for how long? On the federal level, there are two agencies that regulate record keeping. First is the IRS, which is responsible for enforcing the Internal Revenue Code. The second is the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). The Wage and Hour Division of the DOL is responsible for enforcement of the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Family and Medical leave Act (FMLA), the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA), and the laws governing wages paid by federal government contractors. Both of these agencies have separate rules regarding the type of records that must be kept and the length of time...
How To Win Your Case For Social Security...
Winning a Social Security Disability case for someone who suffers from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and/or Fibromyalgia (CFS/FMS) can be very difficult. However, with proper preparation I am often able to win client's their Social Security Disability benefits. I approach a Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Fibromyalgia case using the following five factors: 1) Was the Diagnosis of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Fibromyalgia Made by a Specialist? I am always very skeptical on my chances of winning when a person comes to me and is not being treated by a specialist in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and/or Fibromyalgia. I usually prefer to see that the client is being treated by a Rheumatologist but I have been...

My husband just found out his management job was going to end, you heard it before, the Company was bought out by a bigger company and the site where you work will be shut down. It was June of 2005; my husband no longer had a job. This affected our entire family, not only financially, but also emotionally. We continued on struggling the entire time. Remember, previously he was in a management position making a fairly decent salary, now that amount was dropped in half. Although our bills remained the same they didn't drop in half. Of course I...
Why Disability Insurance? Because Your Chances...
If you and your loved ones depend on your salary for support, then you probably need long term disability income insurance. Think about it: if you were to become disabled, even for a few months, how would you and your family manage? Who would pay your bills? Disabling illness or injury is one of the leading causes of bankruptcy in the United States. Most people do not realize that their chances of becoming disabled are greater than their chances of dying prematurely. Yet they are more likely to buy life insurance than disability insurance. For this reason, people in the insurance industry call disability "the forgotten risk.' According to statistics from the Journal of the American Society of...
A lack of compassion in the disability system
Is the disability system operated by the U.S. Federal government a fair and compassionate one?. Well, the simple truth is, the disability system that is set up to help you when you are most in need...rarely does that. Yes, you may eventually win your social security disability benefits, but the chances are good that you won't receive a cent until you've lost your home, your savings, your health insurance (and access to medications and medical treatment), and, to add insult to injury, a fair portion of your dignity as well. From the very start of the process, to the very end, individuals who are approved for either social security disability or ssi benefits may have to endure a process that can last...
Disability Insurance - Do I need it?
Your career is a direct result of hard work and a substantial investment of time and money. Doesn't it make sense to fully protect it? A disability could render you helpless by taking away the one thing that you need to safeguard all of your assets: your income. Home, auto, life, and health insurance are certainly valuable investments, but failure to couple them with disability insurance will jeopardize your full financial security. For example, health insurance might cover the potential fiscal pitfalls of the medical bills that result from a disability, but the rest of your financial obligations are not going to come to a halt. Vehicle payments, mortgages, insurance premiums, and even savings...
Patience As They Say Is a Virtue
It is redundant indeed, clich even, but what more can an individual plagued with a disability have but to have faith with the only hope that it has left. As the ordinary parlance goes, beggars cannot be choosers. Hence, they have no choice but to accept what is available to alleviate from the suffering they are experiencing, even if it takes relying on the benefits afforded by the Social Security Disability Program. It is an epic battle, one involving the degrading condition of the claimant, on one hand, and the bureaucratic process that plagues the Social Security Disability Program, on the other. Sad part is that the claimant has no choice, but to suffer the consequences of both before a favorable...
A Guide To Secure Social Security Benefits...
Disability of any form is a curse to humanity. It not only demeans a person's ability to earn livelihood but sometimes also brings him social disrespect. Thus, disability exists not physically only, but also in the minds of the people who constitute our society. You must have come across various cases, when an efficient employee of an organization was thrown out because he suffered from a kind of disability, and now his family does not even have enough resources to continue even a minimal livelihood. Disability can bring you to a sorry state. But to safeguard the rights of disabled ocial security benefits are provided by the government. Under the Social Security Act disability is defined as the...
WHAT ARE SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY BENEFITS? Social Security Disability is a benefit received from the Social Security Administration by disabled workers and in some cases their dependents, similar to those received by retired workers. WHO QUALIFIES? To receive benefits under the Social Security Disability program, you must have a physical or mental health problem (or a combination of problems) severe enough to keep you from working in any regular paying job for at least one year. The test isn't whether or not you are able to go back to your old job, and the test isn't whether or not you have been able to find a job lately. Rather, the test is whether you are capable of doing any job available in...

Wheelchairs have been around for hundreds of years, but early wheelchairs were intended only to help a disabled individual move from point A to point B. As society progressed and disabled individuals became more integrated, the role of the wheelchair began to change as well. Wheelchairs are now considered not only a means of transportation but also as a way to allow users to express their individuality. Users can find custom-made high quality ultra-light high-performance wheelchairs as well as accessories that enable them to individualize their look and style. The move from functionality to individuality is discussed in this article. (This article with photos: There were many attempts to connect...

IRAs and Early Retirement
Dual income families and megabucks 401(k) plans are common socio-economic trends that get today's Boomers thinking about early retirement. If you elect to retire early and roll your 401(k) plan into an IRA, how can you best set up a withdrawal plan? First, it depends on what kind of IRA you have. The rules differ for Roth IRAs. Second, it depends on whether you retire before or after age 59 1/2. For our purposes, we are going to assume retirement occurs before age 59 1/2. What Income is Taxable? The first issue is to be clear on are the rules as to what IRA withdrawals are taxable income. With traditional IRAs, the answer is easy: All income is taxable. However, if you made non-deductible...
What is Leading to our Debt Problem?
Research from Abbey shows that Britons spent £48.7 billion on unexpected bills in the last year and that 79 per cent of people admitted that they had not budgeted for these unexpected costs. Unplanned building work, unexpected taxes, bills and fees, and forgotten birthdays and weddings all contributed to financial difficulties. Typically, unexpected bills and costs amount to £1,375 each time, putting people in the position where they have to use their savings or go into debt just to meet the costs. Of those surveyed, 37 per cent said that they used savings to meet their unplanned financial costs while a further 37 per cent put the debt on their credit card and 13 per cent went into their...
Secrets to Victory in Small Claims Court
If you have a claim against an individual or a business but the amount at issue is a few thousand dollars or less, you may want to pursue your claim in small claims court. A small claims court may be called a "magistrate court" or a "recorders court" or a "small claims court," depending on where you live. Each State has its own name and rules for small claims court but, in general, a small claim is where the amount at issue is less than some number, usually $5000 or $10,000. Small claims court makes sense when you have a case against someone, but the dollars involved do not justify the expense of a lawyer. Most lawyers are going to want at least $1,000 to represent you in court and that figure may...
The Five (5) factors that dominate a Social...
In my 30 years of experience representing claimants in social security disability hearings, I have concluded there are five factors that are significant in almost every case. These are the factors one should consider when applying for disability. SERIOUS IMPAIRMENT: You cannot get disability for a hangnail. Your impairment must seriously affect your ability to work. It must be an impairment In my 30 years of practice, I have always found Social Security Judges to be very sympathetic to a claimant with a serious impairment such as lupus or cancer. YOUR AGE: It is best to be 55 years old or older when applying for disability. The system favors the older applicant. On the other hand if you are under 50...
How many Americans will become Disabled over...
If you become disabled and unable to work in America, you can apply for federal assistance in the form of social security disability and, if you are lucky, your own case will be among the thirty or so percent of claims that are actually approved at the application level. However, if your initial claim is not approved (and seven out of ten are not), you'll have to go through an arduous appeal system that can literally take years. And years, these days, can easily up to three years. Title II benefits, otherwise known as RSDI, DIB, or more plainly, Social security disability, is an underfunded (manpower-wise), lumbering, and creaking contraption that does not serve the citizens of this country well at...
Roth Iras: Test your Knowledge
How well do you know Roth IRAs? Here are five tough questions. Let's see how you do… 1. I am 72 years young and still working. Can I set up a Roth IRA? Yes. Unlike a traditional IRA, which does not allow contributions past age 70 1/2, Roth IRAs have no age limitations. You can continue to contribute to your Roth as long as you have compensation. 2. I am married, age 57, file a joint tax return and make $65,000. I am a participant in a 401(k) plan at work and put $5,000 into my own traditional IRA. Can I set up a Roth IRA? Not in the tax year in question. You already put your regular contribution limit ($4,000) into your traditional IRA along with another $1,000 catch-up contribution which is...
The Internet as a Source for Math Homework Help
When a child needs math help with his or her homework, whether they are in the fourth grade or college, it is a very important need. Without the required assistance, the child may fall further and further behind. This leads to poor grades and low self esteem. When looking for a math tutor to provide the necessary math help, parents must use caution. Depending on how long the tutoring will last, a professional for this option can get quite expensive. Instead of utilizing a professional for math homework help, why not look closer to home? Find a friend of your child who excels at the type of math your child is falling behind in. A lot of times this type of help can be more cost effective. Friends or...

Asbestos is a toxic chemical substance that has been used directly or indirectly in hundreds of products across the globe. It is incorrect and inappropriate for human beings to have excessive exposure to asbestos. This might result in malignant mesothelioma -- a rare cancer that affects the lining of the lungs, abdomen or heart -- and other diseases. It is amazing to find that, asbestos has still not been entirely banned in the United States, and Americans continue to risk exposure to this dangerous fiber. If you feel that you have been exhibiting symptoms of mesothelioma (like shortness of breath, pain in the chest or back region, swelling in the abdomen, difficulty swallowing, cough, fever...
Disability Insurance Protection You And Compare...
If disability income insurance is the protection you need, shop around and compare policy features before making a purchase. Some professional insurance agents consider the ideal disability policy to be a form called 'own occupation' coverage. But the average life of a disability insurance policy is about 5 years. Even if you have long-term disability insurance through your employer, you may want to consider an individual policy as well. That's why after recently meeting with his financial planner, he decided to supplement his employer's disability coverage with an additional long-term disability insurance policy. Sometimes, your employer pays for an individual disability insurance policy on you...
What is I.B.S. (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)?
According to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a disorder characterized most commonly by cramping, abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, and diarrhea. IBS causes a great deal of discomfort and distress, but it does not permanently harm the intestines and does not lead to a serious disease, such as cancer. Most people can control their symptoms with diet, stress management, and prescribed medications. For some people, however, IBS can be disabling. They may be unable to work, attend social events, or even travel short distances. Irritable Bowel Syndrome or IBS is the most common gastrointestinal disorder seen by GI Doctors. IBS may...
Access To Eye Care Is Important To Your Family
When children are young they are unable to describe how wel they can see things, particularly in the early learning stages and it is virtually impossible for parent to recognize a visual disability in the early stages thus impairing the child's development. Ensuring that your family has regular access to eye care, is perhaps one of the most important things for a family's health. Without proper eye care, children are too often forced to enter school with untreated sight deficiencies, and in turn do not get the education they deserve. Access to eye care is equally important for adults. Even if you need glasses or contacts, allowing your eyes to go unchecked for long can lead to much more serious...
Do Diversity Policies Matter?
A recent survey conducted by the National Society of Hispanic Professionals (NSHP) asked 268 Hispanics their opinion on diversity policies in the workplace. A whopping 72 percent of those surveyed felt that diversity policies were more words than actions or did not make a difference, while only 27 percent felt that such polices were necessary in the workplace and benefited Hispanics. While it is probably true that most Hispanics surveyed believe in the ideals of diversity, it is apparent from the survey that a large majority of respondents do not feel that its purposes have been accomplished to their satisfaction. On the other hand, human resources executives at many of the largest corporations in...
